Keeping York Safe During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Can I come to campus?

Faculty, Instructors & Researchers: Please do not come to campus unless it is absolutely necessary and carefully consider the need to do so at this time. In person/face-to-face research remains suspended. For those requiring access, please conduct daily screening to ensure you do not have COVID-19 symptoms, follow mask guidelines and use your Passport York account to submit access requests and follow daily screening through the Campus Access system. Note: please allow 7 days for new access requests to be approved.

Staff & Managers: Please do not come to campus unless absolutely required. All staff who require access must conduct daily screening to ensure they do not have COVID-19 symptoms, follow mask guidelines and use their Passport York account to submit access requests and follow daily screening through the Campus Access system. Note: please allow 7 days for new access requests to be approved.

Students: Please do not come to campus unless it is required for a class or a related pre-approved activity. If you do come on site, you must complete daily screening prior to arriving every day to ensure you do not have COVID-19 symptoms, follow mask guidelines and use your YU-card to access buildings. If you live on campus, you must complete this screening daily to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.

Planning for 2021

In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the provincial government has strengthened enforcement of the Provincial Stay-at-Home order that will be in effect in the City of Toronto until at least May 20. Our community is strongly encouraged not to come to campus unless absolutely necessary at this time.

We will continue to operate online and remotely, as planned for the Summer 2021 Term. Under strict adherence to the provincial COVID-19 response framework, currently approved research and in-person activities can continue. We are also actively planning for a safe return to our campuses for the Fall 2021 term. This means we aim to bring classes and co-curricular opportunities back onto our campuses as much as possible, while also prioritizing health and safety for all students, faculty, course instructors and staff.

In the meantime, students and faculty will have access to the essential teaching and learning tools needed for a high-quality online education experience. Although these are challenging times for everyone, brighter days are ahead and the York community has a lot to be proud of.
