Professor Erez Freud, a cognitive neuroscientist in the Faculty of Health’s Department of Psychology and York’s Centre for Vision Research, is researching face recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a recently published study, Freud and co-authors revealed that masks reduce our ability to recognize one another’s faces by about 15 per cent.
